Making memories

We do what we love and we love what we do. Finding our passion through inspiring others to move their bodies in ways that feels amazing to them is what we strive for in and outside of our classes. The three of us (Erin, Jamie, and Kellie) all grew up being active and movement has always been a part of our lives. We realize this is not always the case for those attending our classes. Our goal is to make fitness fun! Smiles. Laughter. High fives. Games. New moves. That is how we find what movement speaks to us and what inspires us to keep our bodies moving. Today, we held a free Family Fit workout in Magrath Heights Park (southwest Edmonton) and oh my gosh was it fun!!!! Everyone was invited. Some mamas came by themselves for some kid-free time, others brought their husbands and children, some brought a friend. We had new moms, expecting moms, and weekend warrior moms. It was amazing!! The energy that was created from families moving their bodies, enjoying the fresh air a...

My favourite prenatal workouts!

Pregnancy is such a special time, as you grow a new life inside your body. Both you and your child are constantly changing during each stage of development. Being pregnant is natural for a woman - it’s one of the most beautiful things that your body is made to do. Yet, when it comes to engaging in physical activity and exercise during pregnancy, many women are unsure what they can or should be doing. Some worry they might harm the baby or injure themselves while exercising. These concerns are only natural. But, thankfully, the human body is designed to move and pregnant bodies are no different. Read my entire article here! Now that you understand the benefits of staying active and exercising throughout your pregnancy, where do you start? Begin with your health care provider's consent. Whether you see a obstetrician, family physician, or midwife discuss the activities you already do or are interested in during your pregnancy. Once you are cleared for exercise...we can have ...

Gingerbread Cookie Arms & Core

During our final week of fitness classes for 2015, we spiced things up with Christmas themed workouts along to Christmas tunes! We sweat, smiled, laughed, and hugged as we wished each other all the best during the holiday season.  I promised these lovely ladies that I would post one new workout per week during our Christmas break to keep them motivated to move their bodies and continue to incorporate the healthy habits they have developed over the past weeks!  All you need for this Gingerbread Cookie Arms & Core workout is your exercise mat and an interval timer! I love the Seconds Pro app and share all my interval workouts with my clients this way. The prenatal modifications are in this colour! Here we go... Hot Chocolate Warm-Up | 30 seconds each | 2 sets  Jolly Jacks | Jumping Jacks | Walking Jacks  Chimney Climbers | Mountain Climbers | Walking and/or incline Tabata | 20 seconds work & 10 seconds rest | 4 rounds per set L...

NEW Tabata Workout

This 20 minute workout will leave you feeling toned and sweaty! Tabata workouts are a great way to have an intense and efficient workout in a short amount of time. Despite the name of this workout, it is great for everyone and will challenge all fitness levels.  Prenatal - ensure you focus on your balance and stability through each exercise and move slowly. Remember to breathe. (this is for everyone, but especially our pregnant ladies!) What you need: - an exercise mat - a resistance band or dumbbells - water - an interval timer (I like the Seconds Pro app) How to set up for a Tabata workout... Summer Schedule FAQs

These are some of the most common questions I have heard regarding our summer schedule , as it is a little different and much more flexible than our usual six-week pre-registered sessions! This was our wonderful group for the free Bootcamp - May 5 Why the changes? For the summer months, I wanted to make our schedule more flexible with drop-in options and "punch passes" so that you can attend when it works into your summer plans! With the 10- and 5- Class Pass can we mix and match our classes? Definitely!! The most common classes to do this will be the Tuesday morning Mom & Me Fit and the Wednesday evening Bootcamp. Prenatal Fit is indoors, in a smaller space, and you must be pregnant to attend this class. Therefore, if you are pregnant and have a little one, you can attend any of the classes! Will I receive a resistance band with the 10- or 5- Class Pass? For the Summer Session, we will not be including a resistance band as a part of registration. Co...

Christmas Cheer

'Tis the season! The season of cookies, fudge, truffles, hot chocolate, and other sweet treats is upon us. This season also seems to fill up with gatherings, parties, shopping, and decorating. These are all wonderful things, but we cannot forget to stay active and move as much as we can squeeze in.  I created this holiday themed Tabata workout last Christmas. Keith and I pulled it out last weekend and enjoyed a good sweat.  Remember... with Tabata, you work maximally for 20 seconds, then take a 10 second break. Repeat this for 8 sets to one series (4 minutes). For the workout below, you will alternate exercises every set (total of 4 sets each). Holiday Arms and Abs 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest Hot Chocolate Warm-Up - Jolly Jacks (aka Jumping Jacks) - Chimney Climbers (aka Mountain Climbers) alternate for 4 rounds each 30 seconds rest Little Black Dress - Snow Plows (aka Push Ups) - Tinsel Twists (aka Bicycle Crunches) alternate for 4 rounds each 30 s...

Baby & Me Bootcamp #4

Last week was another hot bootcamp day! Luckily, Baby B and I were able to arrive early and snag a couple tables under the shade for our workout. The light breeze and shade were great during the workout, and the sunshine felt great as we finished with core in the soccer field.  I borrowed this workout from one I created last September 17 (2013). It is a great full body routine that combines a few different styles.  P ump Yo' Jam one loop around park Cardio (30 seconds each) 1) Jumping Jacks 2) Squat Jumps 3) Speed Skaters 4) Ski Moguls repeat Tabata 1 (20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest) 1) Incline Push-Ups 2) Triceps Dips 3) Incline Push-Ups 4) Triceps Dips 5) Incline Push-Ups 6) Triceps Dips 7) Incline Push-Ups 8) Triceps Dips Isometrics (60 second hold) 1) Low Squat Hold 2) Plank Hold Tabata 2 (20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest) 1) Alternating Lunges 2)  Glute Kick-Back - all fours 3) Alternating Lunges 4)  Glute Kick-Back - all fours 5) Alternati...
